Homemade apple pie dessert

 


INGREDIENTS 8 Servings

2 1/2 cups ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR

1 teaspoon SALT

1 1/2 units COLD BUTTER BARS IN CUBES

8 tablespoons COLD WATER

1 1/2 pounds APPLE PEELED AND CUT INTO WEDGE

3/4 cup GRANULATED SUGAR

1 teaspoon MCCORMICK® GROUND CINNAMON

2 tablespoons CORNSTARCH

1/4 tsp MCCORMICK® NUTMEG

1 tablespoon LEMON JUICE

1 unit BEATEN EGG

1 tablespoon SUGAR


PREPARATION

Preheat oven to 375°F. Mix the flour and salt in a bowl until homogenized. Pour the butter and flour into a food processor and blend until loose clumps form.


Add 2 tbsp water. at a time and mix each time water is added until obtaining a uniform consistency and a firm dough. Add water if the dough is not moldable. Divide the dough into 2 equal parts, place in plastic wrap and refrigerate.


In a bowl, mix the apples, sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, salt, nutmeg and lemon juice. Reserve


Roll out one part of the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of 3mm. Arrange the dough in a pie mold, pressing lightly with your fingertips to ensure that it adheres well to the mold. Trim excess dough.


Pour the apple mixture into the mold.


Stretch the remaining part of the dough and decorate the top of the pie with it as desired. Mix the egg with the tbsp. of sugar and brush the layer of dough that covers the pie with this mixture.


Bake for 50 to 60 minutes. Let cool and serve.
